About - Alexander Sarton Cozzi

Growing up with not only a passion for playing games, but also for creating games, I bought my first game engine when I was 12 years old: 3D Gamestudio A5. Since then, I started attempting to create my own games by creating levels, assets and even some basic coding in Lite-C, which made me even more curious about the art of making games.

When I got my hands on a copy of 3D studio max at the age of 16, for a couple of years I dived in to the world of 3D modeling, texturing and even some basic rigging and animation. Combining this with a graphic design study and creating websites and graphic designs on multiple occasions, this gave me a lot of experience in design, 3D and other game related subjects. In 2009, one year before I joined the Game Design and Development study at the University of the Arts Utrecht, I read a book about the basics of C++.

During my study I decided to focus on programming and spend 80% of our school projects as the programmer of the team. Just a year after starting my Game Design study, I started a company together with a classmate. In 2012 a couple of other friends joined this company and it eventually turned into the company Basecamp Games b.v., this company is behind the game Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Video game which was released on steam on the 16th of January in 2015.

After Karmaflow we worked on a few projects in Unreal Engine 4 and next to that we implemented interactive technology in two Escape rooms, before I decided to leave Basecamp Games at the end of 2016.

After this, I started working for PixelPool in The Hague where I work in Unreal Engine 4 and C++ on projects for well known retail brands. Unfortunately some work is confidential and cannot be shared. But since 2019 we are working on a project called Dtail. This is a collaboration between an Unreal Engine 4 development team, a backend team and a web frontend team at PixelPool. I work in the Unreal Engine 4 team, but we work closely together with the other teams.

You can read more about the projects I worked on, on the Projects page.
